In early July, President Biden assured reporters that the Taliban terrorist group would not take control of Afghanistan if he withdrew U.S. Military forces from the region.  "The likelihood there's going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely."  A reporter addressed the President, saying "your own intelligence community has assessed that the Afghan government will likely collapse."  Biden interrupt her, saying "That is not true."  He went on to say "The Afghan government and leadership has to come together.  They clearly have the capacity to sustain the government in place."  At the time of this report, the Taliban is taking control of Afghanistan including the capital of Kabul.
